Who We Are

and What We Do

We are playwrights raising our voices

to support the right of all

to live their lives safe

from senseless acts of gun violence.

We come together to build a library of short plays,

each dedicated to

one victim of gun violence.

We aim to collect one play for every American mass shooting.

We hope sanity prevails

before we reach that goal.

How We Help

In the wake of our nation’s raging gun violence, playwrights from all across the country have come together to create a new piece of theater — A collection of one-to-five minute plays —Each one responding to a different school shooting in the United States of America.

20 kids were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary — And nothing changed.

Now we come together as artists — in solidarity with students, parents, teachers and our communities — to memorialize the victims and to honor the survivors and their loved ones.

The Plays

Inspired to action after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the #CodeRed Playwrights have dedicated themselves to writing plays on gun violence, each in response to an actual event and each dedicated to a real person. The plays themselves are non-violent. We don't name the shooter or glorify his actions in anyway. Instead, these plays serve as eulogies, as protests and as witness to this ongoing senselessness.

Home: Our Causes

So we are speaking up for those who don’t have anyone listening to them, for those who can’t talk about it just yet, and for those who will never speak again. We are grieving, we are furious, and we are using our words fiercely and desperately because that’s the only thing standing between us and this happening again.
